NEWS: Grindhouse Horror ‘Six Hot Chicks in a Warehouse’ Demolishes Kickstarter Goal, Gathers Momentum

After setting an initial target of £4,000, British grindhouse feature Six Hot Chicks in a Warehouse has smashed its crowdfunding goal with an impressive 14 days left to run. According to the film’s Kickstarter page the project, directed by Simon P Edwards, hopes to “makes a glossy looking horror film on a crapfest budget”. Judging by the incredible initial surge, it looks like they’re going to have a little more of a budget to play with than they might have expected.

A whole host of exciting names are attached, so it’s going to be very interesting to see how this one progresses. As well as starring in the film, taking a production credit here is Jessica Messenger, whose 2016 will include appearances in a couple of hotly anticipated shorts (Mark Logan’s Rats and Chelsey Burdon’s Dead Bitch!), and marks her second collaboration with the director following 2014’s Beneath a Neon Tide. Elsewhere, Edwards also welcomes back Lucy-Anne Brooks, who he previously worked with on his short Watch Me, Alone.

Also joining the fray is Dan Palmer, in a move that will see him pull in yet another new direction. Perhaps best known for his cult favourite Stalled, a brilliantly inventive zombie movie that takes place almost entirely in a toilet cubicle, Dan’s also recently appeared in Liam Regan’s blistering festival favourite Banjo, as well as Damon Rickard’s award-winning short The Package. He’s quickly becoming a mark of quality, so his name appearing on the cast list definitely ups our interest by a couple of notches.

According to the film’s IMDB page, the synopsis for Six Hot Chicks in a Warehouse looks like this:

“A young model, Mira, is unknowingly drawn by photographer Adrian into a disturbingly calculated scenario with five other models in what is promised as a shoot of a lifetime. As the seemingly innocent mind games of who is using who begins to unravel it becomes clear that the not so normal mind of Adrian himself isn’t all the girls have to worry about.”

From where I’m sitting, this one has a lot of potential, and you can check out the Kickstarter and donate to the project here.
